I have never been able to find a healthy recipe for the magical and comforting flavor of streusel. But then there was a day I decided my sauteed apples would be much better with some streusel.
Normal streusel contains lots of butter (which is fine! However it does add calories and dairy), Brown sugar (which is the same as white sugar, NOT any healthier!), and a little flour as base ingredients.
However this is a healthy and delicious stresuel!
Oh and it’s super quick! I always make it when I decided granola is not gonna cut it!
The ingredients are simple, clean, and hearty!
- I would not recommend any substitution for maple syrup
- This could be made nut free with some sort of seed butter
- This tastes raw and the oats are chewy, I do not mind this. If you do maybe toast your streusel in oven at about 300 degrees until crisp, about 5 minutes
quick and healthy streusel
- 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tbsp of oats
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- Combine all ingredients
- Sprinkle on top of anything!
